What Are The Best Water Treatment Solutions For Central New York and Northeastern PA, New York?

With this combination of water resources, Central New York and Northeastern PA water quality often faces our share of water filtration and treatment issues:

Surface water, like rivers and snow melt, absorb contaminants that can be harmful for consumption as well as annoying around the home. Most of these contaminants include naturally occurring bio materials and minerals. This means water quality can worsen seasonally when warming temperatures contribute to algal blooms, or heighten water sensitivity to microorganism growth.

Ground water presents its own treatment challenges and filtration issues, so Central New York and Northeastern PA residents with primarily ground water service may see different water problems than those using water from Central New York and Northeastern PA’s surface water sources. Most often, these manifest as hard water problems which cause buildup on faucets and fixtures, and can be hard on appliances and plumbing.

Drinking water from Binghamton, to Endicott, to Scranton can be vastly different, from water problems to water sources. Binghamton water typically comes from the Susquehanna. Endicott drinking water, though, comes from one of many underground aquifers that are tapped by wells in the area.  Scranton’s water, on the other hand, comes from a combination of surface water and groundwater sources.  Because of the vast array of sources in this area, it is important to know how they can affect your drinking water – and how Culligan of Central New York and Northeast Pennsylvania can help.

Surface water is water that comes from lakes, rivers, streams, and other water sources that are exposed to open air. Since they are exposed, they are left susceptible to pollution, agricultural runoff, and other contaminants getting in the water supply.  While the municipal water authority will filter out the larger contaminants, microscopic impurities may still be in your water.  This will leave you with not only an unpleasant taste, but unpleasant bacteria coming from your tap water.  At worst, it can even leave disease-causing bacteria in your water that can leave you feeling ill.

Groundwater, on the other hand, is water that is serviced by aquifers and underground wells.  The problems associated with groundwater typically involve minerals, as opposed to bacteria, getting into your drinking water.  These minerals are the major cause of hard water in homes through the area and they can cause some major headaches in several areas of your house.  Whether you’re experiencing rust-colored stains in your sinks or tubs, white buildup in your plumbing fixtures, or bad tastes and smells in your drinking water, hard water may be the reason.

Wherever your water comes from and whatever problems that you may be experiencing, Culligan of Central New York and Northeast Pennsylvania has over 80 years of experience in treating water just like yours.  With great, local employees who live and work in the area, we understand the problems that you’re facing.  Our local knowledge about the specific water problems found in our area is what helps us easily diagnose and solve the water problems that you’re having.  Regardless of your needs and your water issues, Culligan will come up with a customized solution for you, and your home, today!
